I tried everything. I bribed her, I tried logic, I got creative and cut her sandwiches into cool shapes, her plate looked like Martha Stewart meets Picasso. and when none of that worked I lost my patience and ended up yelling, causing my daughter to break down in tears, and our entire family dinner time turned into a mess.
And then I’d go to the kitchen and feel like a failure as a mom.
As a registered nurse and wellness coach, I knew that good nutrition was important and I also wanted our dinner times to be a place where we built family not tore it apart.
And I knew this had to change.
So I started doing research and that’s when I realized that almost every child will go through some kind of picky eater phase. It’s almost like someone flips a switch. And suddenly they don’t want to eat what you put on their plate.
What a lot of parents do in this phase is either
- They Put too much pressure on their child to eat which can lead to some bad eating behaviors
OR
- they get so tired of the battle, that they cave in and let their child eat whatever they want which sets off a cycle that is really hard to recover from.
I was doing the first one.
But as I began putting a few key principles in place, everything changed.
My daughter went from being a picky eater to eating whatever I put on her plate and our meal times went from this stressful battleground to a fun enjoyable highlight of the day where we laugh and share a meal together.
I soon realized I wasn’t the only one struggling with this. So I took everything I’ve learned from my research as well as my own experience, and created an online course to help families just like ours restore peace to the family dinner table.

Jenny is a contagiously fun and compassionate wife and mother of two wonderful children. She is a Registered Nurse currently working in Pediatric Endocrinology and a Certified Health and Wellness Consultant.
With her passion for all things wellness, she started her business FIT FAMILY COACHING in 2016.
She created the course THE PICKY EATER FIX as she started struggling with her children being picky eaters and was tired of frustrating meal times. As she shared her frustrations she realized so many parents were dealing with the same thing.
She set out to learn everything she could about "Picky eaters".
She has taught several workshops and now created the course The Picky Eater Fix.
